Here are some pictures of my nursery and a little bit about the babies day to day activities. The nursery decor is always changing to keep the birds' environment new and fresh for the babies and the breeders to enjoy. These little guys love to look at new things and have new toys to play so I try my best to change it up at least once a month for them to enjoy their temporary home.

All I do is move around the cages and add some new handmade toys to keep them active and curious about their surroundings. The nursery is cleaned every day. Paper on the bottom trays is replaced, water and food dishes are cleaned out and refilled with fresh food and water, cages are washed every Sunday morning by my husband and new toys are added on that same day. My nursery is an indoor aviary in a special room at my house for the babies, the breeders go back and forth between my indoor aviary during the breeding season and back outdoors when they are resting. Our breeders have been tested for PBFD + APV + MOMP disease and virus according to the breeders and pet shops we purchased them from, we have been very blessed with a healthy flock.

At this time we don't test the babies for any disease or viruses due to the high cost, we only offer gender DNA testing with each adoption upon request. We are not a bird mill or farm, the breeders are our personal pets, the money collected from the adoption fees goes right back to the birds to maintain this amazing hobby of mine.

The babies daily diet is 90% pellets, 5% seeds, and 5% millet treats, I also try to give them some cooked broccolis and cooked corn. The parents eat a mix of seeds, pellets, and chopped veggies.

Once all the eggs in the nest box have hatched, the nest box is cleaned every other day to avoid bacteria, mold and mildew to keep the babies healthy.

These little ones are not use to be in the cage locked up all day. In the morning I take them out to play around the nursery floor and on their play top tree in the living room for about 2 hours or until they get tired, after play time they usually climb up to my legs and perch on my shoulders or head for a quick nap. They also like to watch tv with me or perch on my head while I am working on the computer.

After having some great one on one time with the babies, I place them back in their flight cage so they can rest, eat, drink and play some more. The breeders will then come out for foraging, exercise, eat treats and collect nesting materials to take them back to built or maintain their next boxes. Leelo and Squeaky loves to hang out with me in the office when they are not busy nesting, I enjoy all the preening, nibbles and attention they give me.

If you keep one of my babies locked up in a cage all day, it will try to escape or bang it's beak on the cage wall till you let it out, so please keep it in mind that you must let you baby out to play and interact with you every day  for a least an hour in order for it to be happy and not hurt itself. Just hang out with the baby while your are on your computer, texting or watching tv, it doesn't take much for your baby to stay happy.
